WELCOME
Reflections in Clay brings together alumni artists Jordan Blankenship (‘17, Art), Kel Campbell (‘13, Art), and Maria Emilia Steiner (‘15, Art) in an exhibition that considers reflection through use, memory, and presence. Working with clay, the artists explore how objects and forms hold and register experience over time.
Reflections In Clay...
Jordan Blankenship
My work explores the relationship between ceramics, hand-turned cork, and woodworking through functional objects designed for everyday use. Each element is made with intention. Wheel-thrown ceramic forms are paired with custom lathe-turned cork components, while a handcrafted wooden cabinet provides a space for storage and display.
Pattern and repeated forms create connections between individual pieces. The cabinet extends this exploration by considering how functional objects can be arranged and presented as a collection.
Presented in Reflections in Clay, this body of work offers a look into the current direction of my studio practice. I’m interested in how the objects we choose to live with become part of our daily routines and how thoughtful design can influence the way we use and interact with them. Each piece is an exploration of form, material, and function. While many are designed to work together, they also have their own individual purpose and character.
I invite you to explore the collection and take a closer look at the individual pieces.
